Here Is the Marijuana Super Bowl Ad CBS Rejected
A few days ago, outrage spread when it was reported that CBS rejected a marijuana commercial for the upcoming Super Bowl. Many criticized the network’s hypocrisy for showing ads for beer and liquor, sexually exploitative ads like those stupid GoDaddy commercials and other not-so-savory products during the Super Bowl in the past.
To perhaps add more fuel to the fire, you can watch the cannabis commercial that CBS rejected up above.
This ad doesn’t really seem all that controversial. Unless you’re living with your head in the sand, you should know that cannabis has been well-documented to help treat numerous conditions including the ones shown in the ad. Compare this to some beer commercials that will air during the Super Bowl, and this seems a lot more responsible than whatever commercials Miller Lite or Bud Lite shows about getting drunk.
Acreage Holdings, the cannabis company behind the commercial, didn’t say why CBS rejected the ad, if they were even given a reason. But many reports say it’s simply because CBS does not accept marijuana-related advertising.
So taking money from alcohol companies that lead to more intoxicated driving accidents than any other substance is ok, but an ad for medical marijuana, which is legal in over 30 states in the U.S. currently, is not ok.
We’re sure once marijuana is legal in all 50 states, CBS will be more than happy to cash cannabis checks.
