4 Ways to Beat That Weed Hangover

Published on

Weed hangovers aren’t as debilitating as the after-effects of drinking too much, but overdoing it on cannabis can still leave you a bit worse for wear the next day. If having too many puffs have left you feeling a little irritable and fatigued the next morning, here are four ways to cope with a marijuana hangover.

Sleep it Off

If you don’t have anywhere to be first thing in the morning, one of the easiest ways to fend off your weed hangover is getting a little extra rest. You probably already know this rule from any rough Sunday mornings after a late night out at the bar, but sleeping it off works for cannabis too.

The Most Important Meal of the Day

If you don’t have the luxury of sleeping in, don’t worry: there are a few other things you can do to fight a weed hangover. And making time for a nutritious breakfast is one of them. While your hangover cravings (or general lack of motivation to cook something) may lead you to the nearest drive-thru, you might be better off if you skipped a greasy breakfast and instead ate some lean proteins and other nutritious staples.

You might want to skip on your usual morning cup of joe too, as horrendous as that sounds. Some experts believe that caffeine can make the effects of a hangover, whether induced by cannabis or alcohol, worse by ratcheting up your anxiety and causing further dehydration.

Stay Hydrated

While you may want to hold off on the coffee until a little later in the day, drinking lots of water when you wake up is always a good idea. Seeing as much of the symptoms we associate with hangovers are actually caused by dehydration, you’re going to want to make sure you get all of that lost fluid back into your body ASAP.

Get Active

Going for a run first thing in the morning might not sound like your idea of a good timeespecially when you’ve got a marijuana hangover. But some early-morning exercise can do you a lot of good. While you might not want to do a full gym session the morning after, a bit of light exercise can help energize you can focus your mind. The key is to make sure you stay hydrated and don’t over do it (like you did the night before).

Maybe just take Fido for a quick walk around the neighborhood before digging into your protein rich breakfast.
