Captain America Considers Taking Up the Fight for Cannabis Reform
Captain America actor Chris Evans might just be taking on marijuana reform.
Chris Evans may be best known these days for his portrayal of Captain America in the hugely popular Marvel Studios series of superhero films. But, it looks like Evans is working on becoming recognized for something else entirely: cannabis reform. On Friday, Evans met with one of the biggest marijuana advocates in Congress: Representative Earl Blumenauer (D‑OR).
A spokesperson for Blumenauer said Evans met with Blumenauer to discuss “a project Chris is working on with several members of Congress.” What that project is exactly isn’t clear; however, though there has been speculation that Evans will be launching a political media organization.
“Earl spoke about issues that he cares about, and marijuana reform was one of them,” Blumenauer’s spokesperson told Marijuana Moment. “Chris asked for the basics on why it’s important, explaining the reasoning behind scheduling and what pros and cons of legalization were.”
Marvel’s upcoming ‘Avengers: Endgame’ film is reportedly the last time Evans will play Captain America onscreen, so it’s not surprising that the celebrated actor is looking for his next big project. It helps that Evans comes from a political minded family as well. His uncle is former Rep. Mike Capuano (D‑MA).
Regardless of what Evans project actually turns out to be, there are probably few better people to have behind the cannabis legalization movement than Captain America.
