Martha Stewart Looks Back on the World Cannabis Congress
We know how busy Martha Stewart can get with business meetings, events, and speaking engagements — which is why we were so excited to have had the opportunity to host her earlier this month at the World Cannabis Congress (WCC) in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
At Civilized’s second annual WCC, international leaders, influencers, scientists, researchers, government officials, and trendsetters in the cannabis space gathered for thoughtfully curated conversations about the state of the industry and where it’s headed next.
In a panel on the potential of CBD, Martha joined Bruce Linton, founder, chairman, and co-CEO of Canopy Growth Corporation, in front of an audience of more than 650 guests. With the discussion led by our publisher Derek Riedle, they spoke about their work on a new line of CBD products for pets. In her blog, Martha called the discussion both “inspiring and informative.”
She spoke about how excited she is to work with Bruce — “a serious tech guy, and very smart” — as they develop a line of products for dogs, hopefully cats, and potentially even horses and other large livestock. As a pet owner, herself, Martha wrote that she “care[s] deeply about their well-being.” But the panel was on more than just CBD for pets, but also how technology and consumer trends are influencing the growing cannabis industry.
Afterward, Derek also interviewed Martha for one of our Civilized podcasts.
But the WCC wasn’t all just business. There was also a fun reception at a gallery nearby, showcasing some of the best known artisans and craftspeople in the region.
With pottery, figurines, and other art on display, the reception also featured a fantastic menu, which included fresh vegetables, sturgeon, other fish, and more. This year’s WCC was definitely one for the books, and we can’t wait for next year.
