North Carolina Man Tried To Eat His Weed When Pulled Over By Police

Published on

A 21-year-old man from Randolph County, North Carolina tried to eat his cannabis stash when he was stopped by police on Sunday night.

Randolph County police say they pulled over Travious Steele in the North Carolina town of Ramseur because of a broken headlight. When police approached the vehicle they began to smell marijuana and caught Steele trying to destroy” the evidence by eating his weed.

Ridiculous (and unpleasant) as it is to eat raw cannabis, Steele’s decision is understandable given state law. In North Carolina, getting busted with even small amounts of cannabis (e.g. half an ounce) means facing a fine of up to $2,000 and up to 45 days in jail. But his efforts only got him into more trouble as he now faces a felony charge for destruction of evidence on top of the possession charge. Which is pretty ridiculous since all he really did was plagiarize one of the best scenes from Super Troopers.’
